What is the difference between an RFP and an RFQ?
An RFP (Request for Proposal) seeks complete solutions to a need, evaluating supplier capabilities, experience and approach. An RFQ (Request for Quotation) focuses on price for products or services that are already specified. This template covers both formats in one file.
Can I change the weights in the scoring matrix?
Yes. The suggested weights (35/30/15/10/10) are a guide. You can adjust them to your reality: in critical technical purchases it is common to raise it to 50% technical and 25% economic; in commodities the opposite. The formula recalculates automatically.
How many suppliers should I invite to an RFP?
The recommended practice for large companies is between 3 and 5 prequalified suppliers. Fewer than 3 makes negotiation difficult; more than 5 increases administrative cost without significantly improving the outcome.
Is the template multilingual?
The downloadable template is in Spanish. To send it to English- or Portuguese-speaking suppliers you can translate the cells manually — the structure and formulas are identical in any language.
